Roy Tanaka Roy is a member of the Boards of Directors of VytronUS, EPIX Therapeutics, and BioSig Technologies, all medical device start-ups developing different technologies for treating atrial fibrillation, a cardiac arrhythmia. He has also served on the boards of Volcano Corporation, a company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes intravascular ultrasound and functional management products that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular and structural heart disease, TomoTherapy Incorporated, an advanced radiation therapy company that develops, manufactures, and markets systems for the treatment of a wide range of cancer types, and Coherex, an atrial appendage closure device company.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Tanaka was the Worldwide President of Biosense Webster, a Johnson & Johnson Company, from March, 2004 until his retirement in September, 2008. Previously Mr. Tanaka served as the U.S. President, Biosense Webster, following the merger of Cordis Webster and Biosense in 1998 and his return to Johnson & Johnson in 1997. Biosense Webster is the market and technology leader in the field of electrophysiology, a subspecialty of cardiology dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
